2025 Update to the PSLE English Syllabus:

Paper 1 Changes
Adjustments have been made to the marking scheme for Paper 1. These changes aim to better prepare students for real-world communication, encouraging them to think deeply, write reflectively, and approach writing tasks with greater independence.

Situational Writing:
New Mark Allocation: Reduced from 15 to 14 marks.
Key Change: Students are now required to generate an original idea for one of the content points, rather than relying solely on information from the given text or image. This shift aims to promote critical thinking and challenge students to apply their knowledge creatively to unfamiliar contexts.

Continuous Writing:
New Mark Allocation: Reduced from 40 to 36 marks.
Despite the change in marks, students are still expected to demonstrate a proficient command of the English language with strong narrative abilities and creativity.
